Cramp Bark (Viburnum opulus)

Uses

Muscular cramp, spasmodic pains in abdomen, womb, ovaries, back, stomach, intestines, bladder. Painful menstruation, flooding menses of the menopause, nervous irritability, earache, acute bronchitis, asthma, muscular rheumatism.
Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)
Actions
Anti-spasmodic, laxative, diaphoretic, emmenogogue, vaso-constrictor, nerve and heart sedative, hypotensive, cardiotonic.
Uses
Angina on effort, simple uncomplicated heart conditions to enhance exercise duration; tachycardia from hyperactive thyroid, hypertension, absent or painful menstruation, menopausal flushes, PMS.
· Relevance to menstrual and uterine conditions.
· Heart and circulation treatments.
· Relaxing tonic for aiding menopausal changes.
· Excellent tonic for heart conditions that are associated with anxiety and tension.
· Needs to be taken for weeks.
Contraindications: Not given in pregnancy.
Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)

Excellent gentle sedative, anti-spasmodic, carminative, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic, vulnerary, aromatic, bitter, diaphoretic, nervine, sedative, tonic, anti-microbial.
Uses
Peptic ulcers, Candida, anxiety, insomnia, indigestion, inflammations, PMS.
Contraindications: Rare contact skin allergy.
Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa)

Anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, cholagogue, anti-bilious, hepatic, muscle relaxant, cardiac sedative (mild angina)
Uses
Adrenal exhaustion, stomach and muscle cramps, hormone imbalance associated with menopause
· A valuable herb to relieve intestinal colic, soothes diverticulitis, ease dysmenorrhea and ovarian and uterine pain.
· Rheumatoid arthritis – especially acute phase where there is intense inflammation.
Contraindications: Avoid in pregnancy.
