MOTHER'S MILK


Chamomile
Chamomile is a wonderful relaxant for the nervous system and digestion, and a perfect remedy for babies and children.
It relieves tension, spasm, colic, abdominal pain, wind and distension.
It is an excellent remedy for gastritis, peptic ulcers and varicose ulcers on the legs.
It is highly antiseptic, active against bacteria, including Candida.
It relaxes uterine spasm and relieves painful periods, reduce menopausal symptoms,
relieve mastitis, premenstrual headaches and migraines, and treat absence of periods due to stress.
Contraindications: Rare skin contact allergy.


Blessed Thistle
Blessed Thistle is a very useful herb for women.
It relieves painful periods and menstrual headaches. As an emmenagogue it will help bring on suppressed periods and therefore should be avoided during pregnancy.
It is excellent for increasing milk production in nursing mothers and can be helpful during problems with the menopause,
such as heavy bleeding. It enhances the immune system and hinders the formation of abnormal cells (useful in cancer treatment).

Catnip
Catnip is wonderful remedy for babies and children; being calming and relaxing it will relieve restlessness and induce sleep.
Its relaxant effect is also felt in the digestive tract where it relieves tension and colic, wind and pain.
Its relaxant effects are also felt in the uterus. It can be used to relieve period pains as well as tension
or stress prior to a period. It can also be used to regulate periods, and for delayed or suppressed menstruation.


Fennel Seed
Fennel has been used since the time of the ancient Greeks to promote secretion of breast milk and when taken the volatile oils
will pass to baby to soothe digestive troubles. Its carminative properties relax any spasm in the digestive tract
and relieve wind, colic and hiccoughs – it is one of the ingredients in gripe water.


Nettles
Nettles stimulate milk production and is one of the most widely applicable plants. It strengthens and supports the whole body.
It is high in chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals, strengthens natural resistance and has been used
for centuries as a nourishing tonic for weakness and debility, convalescence and anemia.


Lavender
Lavender has a wonderfully relaxing effect on mind and body. It makes a good remedy for anxiety, nervousness,
and physical symptoms caused by stress such as tension headaches, migraine, palpitations and insomnia.
It is a tonic to the nervous system, restoring vitality to people suffering from nervous exhaustion.
It soothes spasm and colic, relieves distension, flatulence, nausea, indigestion and enhances the appetite.
Lavender is effective for colds, coughs, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, flu, tonsillitis and laryngitis.
It may be taken for stomach and bowel infections causing vomiting or diarrhea.


Fenugreek Seed
Fenugreek is an herb that has an ancient history. It is a strong stimulator of milk production
and is useful for weak digestion, poor appetite, general debility and convalescence.


Hops
Hops is useful for relieving tension and anxiety, soothing pain, restlessness and agitation.
The antispasmodic action reduces tension in muscles throughout the body,
relieving spasm and colic in the gut, and makes hops a good remedy for irritable bowel syndrome,
diverticulitis, nervous indigestion, peptic ulcers, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and stress-related digestive problems.
